Hayden: "You saved us from losing our life in war, so we HATE you?"
Elianna: "Nani?!"

Poor Christopher. He must be confused af when Ellie asked him which curse tools he prefers LOL

Thank you. I was wondering what his problem was because "thanks to you there was no war" didn't seem like a negative thing to me LOL. But I guess if that country is ran by a bunch of macho guys who flaunt military power, it makes a lot of sense why he was displeased. *sigh*

Ohms Nuttachai • 1 year ago

Gogo's sub was mistranslated. I checked from the others and from the
Japanese itself and that whole conversation was about Hayden criticizing Ellie from stopping the war because he feels like she stole their purpose in life.

This sub makes it sounds like he was praising her but then still criticizing her move anyway, which makes absolutely no sense.

Next time just let them get destroyed and don't provide help simple

fabulous max • 1 year ago

oh dang thank you for looking into that cuz I was confused too

MrBojingo • 1 year ago

i was shaking my head at him the entire time. The ONLY thing i can imagine he'd have a complaint about would be if reducing their military funds, meant weakening the kingdom's defenses, which would make them vulnerable in the event someone tried to attack. HOWEVER, all that remains moot based on the entire basis of what Elianna's goal was, to prevent attacks from happening to begin with. So yeah, its just a power trip.

No war means all these soldiers who wasted all this time and effort training for battle to gain status, glory, and achievements are just now sitting on their hands with nothing to do. War is the only place a soldier could actually get a promotion to further their career!

Byno • 1 year ago

In the case of soldiers, I'd think it's better for them to sit on their asses with nothing to do, than having something to do, because once they have something to do, it's usually the case that there are lives being lost. I'd say the same goes to the police, firefighters and doctors as well. I'm not saying they're not necessary, I'm just saying it's better if they didn't have anything to do, because usually, when they have something to do, it's an emergency, or some idiot's broken the law or something

Oviej • 1 year ago

I'm kind of thinking of Rurouni Kenshin. Because of war, he became the legendary Battousai. When he decided to become a wanderer, it dulled his skills quite a bit. I think the concept of having war is to polish their fighting skills and it changes someone from someone who isn't capable, more capable. Sitting on your ass does nothing for personal growth. Anyways, this is all hypothetical.

Byno • 1 year ago

Personal growth wise, yeah, it might do nothing, but for the common people, they wouldn't exactly want the people of that job to be busy exactly would they? Also, never seen Rurouni Kenshin

Oviej • 1 year ago

Who knows dude. I just watch Jap@nime ...

War is how Hitler became the chancellor of Germany and later the dictator... So hippee for War, right!

Tehnation • 1 year ago

War also allowed america to become a superpower, you obviously don't know that war is what lets countries prosper, i'm not saying war is great, i'm saying you gotta at least understand it. When two groups want the same thing or resource, then you have war, conflict is just a part of human nature. You got country a who's dying of famine, and country b who has a ton of food and doesn't want to share.... human nature will justify country a attacking country b to survive or even country b attacking country a cause they are weak and its the perfect opportunity to take control. You just haven't learned that you can't please everyone all the time, life is filled with winners and losers.... grow up!

Depends on the type of war ur fighting. Total wars are extremely expensive due to having to focus all the available resources ur country has to the war effort, often resulting in a net loss rather than a net gain in the end for ur country (e.g all of Europe who directly fought in both world wars). Proxy wars and/or overseas wars are much more profitable since ur strategic resources at home arent being directly threatened, and so u can make a decent profit from the revenue generated via weapons contracts and deals. There are reasons why total war conflicts between major nations have been far and few between since WW2, and its expensive cost has certainly been a factor among others. It's simply cheaper to either take care of things diplomatically or outsource ur wars to other countries.

Snarf • 1 year ago

War! huh, yeah, What is it good for?

Tehnation • 1 year ago

Some periods war and glory was everything. As a soldier you can't gain ranks or status sitting around on ur azz, you earn it by being on the battlefield. So basically all these people who trained their life for battle become useless, so basically lots of unemployed soldiers who only know about war and combat. I could see why people would be mad.

MrBojingo • 1 year ago

they could stay mad. That very line of thinking is wrong. Even if there's times of peace, there's still bandits outside. So they're never truly unemployed.

Tehnation • 1 year ago

Its not like everyone is going to college and they have the internet or crazy technology! Not many types of jobs in that kind of setting, like what are your options, a farmer, merchant, soldier, chef, blacksmith etc. Most people were probably soldiers I would assume. What do you think soldiers who are now unemployed and their only skill is killing people turn to...banditry. Peace and war arent simple subjects you can place in the black or white category its all grey.

Anothis Flame • 1 year ago

Those same unemployed soldiers are the bandits you're talking about though...

I rewatched that bit twice and was like yo what’s the problem what am I missing?? And in the end got a ‘u stopped the war and that hurt our pride’? Uhm ok I’d rather your pride be hurt than thousands of your people dead but guess that’s just me🙃

Aries thezodiac • 1 year ago

Elianna inadvertently damaged their national pride. Maldura takes great pride in their ability to flaunt their armies and thus their ability to protect their homeland. From the perspective of Maldura's leadership and nobility, she has implied that they are weak by sending them aid.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWERRRRRR

I had a good laugh when Eli brought up the 'good luck charms' and the horse meat. I do love the idea that she just innocently spouting facts is enough to ward off your classic bully noble girls.

MrBojingo • 1 year ago

it kinda bugged me that those girls came on full bully mode confidently and arrogantly trash talking Elianna, but the moment Elianna's wingman turns the tables, those 3 got all upset. Nope nope nope, people who pick fights like that dont get the right to get upset when someone turns the tables on them.

Autumn • 1 year ago

yes she suggested it, but other people agreed and implemented it. I see nothing wrong with simply giving an opinion and an alternative solution to a matter. It takes many people agreeing with her suggested methods to actually put it together. Just like an advisor suggesting something to a king. Just saying there are plenty of people who suggest things to higher ups it's ultimately the person with the highest position who decides whether to do it or not. But guess you can't complain to the prince so you might as well go complain to the timid princess

IStandAlone Roronoa Zoro • 1 year ago

I honestly hold onto Elianna's side of the argument against the old dude. Elianna saved the country from wars, but he preferred there be a war so that people can die but the winning country can return home with 'pride'. War is never good, unless there is a problem! However, if you eliminate a problem beforehand, there is no need for there to be a war! Only the rich agree to the idea of being a war for profits and pride, ordinary people prefer if there were always peace! Someone give this message to that retard Putin as well and tell him to give up on his shitty pride! :(

Agata Jędrzejczyk • 1 year ago

Putin is a far too gone to give up now. I'm afraid the war won't end until someone decides to end him for good...

That old man is far too prideful and greedy to give a damn about what anyone says at this point.

Not everyone thinks like a liberalized westerner.
Russia has its reasons, you can only disagree with them or think they're not worth it.
Russia is cripplingly dependent on an oil economy to keep themselves afloat.
Ukraine consistently threatens that oil economy by taxing the Soviet pipelines that remain in the now-Ukraine, and trying to cultivate its own oil industry that would diminish if not remove Russia from the European market.
Then there's the whole NATO thing, the biolabs (Imagine if China owned northern Mexico and built facilities to produce MurderCovid3000 right by the border of California)

Meanwhile, Russia has a population crisis where their military continues to shrink every passing year. At some point, it will be too late to do anything in the future, they had to act now before Ukraine usurps their oil market, plus the fertile land is also pretty important.

Should Americans have not started the Revolutionary War, and remain Britain to this day?
Should Spain never have had a Reconquista to take back their lands? Europe the crusades that are why you aren't speaking/typing Arabic instead of English right now?

War is not always wrong. Whether it's good or bad generally depends on perception. Though, objective truth also exists and wars could be started for unjust reasons so it remains unjust, though, the lens of history can shape what people believe about it.

Getting praising for saving people but getting lecture cause you don't know the feeling of the people. Lol

Aries thezodiac • 1 year ago

The people, or the nobility? That's the question. It seemed to me that the representative from Maldura was speaking purely from the perspective of nobility.

ramenmen • 1 year ago

Those who desire for war and justified their reason for having a war. Old man you lucky the prince wasn't here, or perhaps he chose this timing to confront the princess.

Ken kaneki • 1 year ago

When the war breaks out whole country gets effected and have a lot of financial, mental, physical, psychological problems. You try to advert war and get everyone saved from these problems and you get accused of hurting the pride and sentiments of Macho miltary chiefs and all the soldiers who wanted to fight for no reason, you're the villain. Thats fair.

Eli so frkg pretty in this episode more than usual….her attire her hair 😍😍😍

Zhang Qiling • 1 year ago

The dress, the hairstyle, the accessories, the gloves, the fan, the color of dress/accessories, the simple classy make up. Everything was freaking perfect, I would love to try that whole attire myself for real! Sadly prince Chris didn't see her wearing it cause dude would go crazy for sure :(

Agata Jędrzejczyk • 1 year ago

That guy from Eyden must have a screw loose. Eliana prevented a war from blowing out and helped the other country during cold spells AND THEY ARE UPSET SHE DID THAT?

...though wait, I think a similar thing was lampshaded in Youjo Senki. Tanya tried to scare people away from joining her battalion by describing the war as it is, only to see people lining up to join the military because war means glory and medals and romantic death for the country.
